Art Classes for Kids on Sydney's Northern Beaches

‘Drawing Faces’ Workshop Series kicks off at Art&Co

'Drawing Faces' Workshop Series kicks off at Art&Co

This week we are running a series of workshops for the school holidays…all on the theme of ‘Drawing Faces’. The first workshop was today with all of the kids producing fantastic portraits throughout the session….stay tuned for later in the week when we reveal some of the finished products!

A few of the top tips from todays workshop:

> Know your Anatomy: Drawing is combination of what you see and what you know, so knowing a little about the anatomy of the face will help to make your portraits more accurate

> Don’t be afraid of Tone: when drawing a face in charcoal, conte, pencil or pastel pencil don’t be afraid to work your shading into the face – the face has it’s own landscape of hills and valleys, so describe these with your tone!

> Focus on the Eyes: The eyes really add the soul to a portrait, so be sure to focus on these and make sure they capture the sitter’s character
