Art Adventures: Arty School Holiday Outings for Kids

Art Adventures: Arty School Holiday Outings for Kids

With the end of the first school term upon us, and school holidays just around the corner you may be wondering what fun activities are on for your little art enthusiast.

Well this post is for you! At Art&Co we love visiting the myriad of inspiring art events that are on in Sydney, and school holiday time is the perfect time to get inspired and get out into the wider creative community!

Not only that, if you have kids at home who are creative, visiting these kinds of events and exhibitions together is a great way to connect with them and share their interest (particularly in the teen years!).

We have put together this list of events that are on our must-see list over Easter. Enjoy!

Wednesday 12th March – Sunday 30th March
A wonderful contemporary presentation of art in Sydney’s Alexandria…but be quick it finishes this Sunday 30th March.

Art Gallery of NSW 12th March – 11th May
The Armory, Sydney Olympic Park 4th March – 27th April
This is the premier exhibition of the highest achieving students in HSC Visual Arts – including a few of our very own former Art&Co students! It’s a major deal for students to have their Artworks selected for exhibition in ArtExpress – and a great place to visit if you have a child who is looking to do art as one of their major subjects in their final years of high school.

Saturday 29th March – Wednesday 16th April
A very prestigious and long-running art prize that showcases some fine young art talent!

WARRINGAH CREATIVE SPACE – ‘Certain Nature’ Exhibition
Friday 14th March – Friday 11th April
The new local creative space in our Warringah area certainly looks worth a visit

21st March – 9th June
This is the mac-daddy of art events in Sydney – with affiliate events popping up all over the city at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art. But the epi-centre of this event is Cockatoo Island on Sydney Harbour – an amazing day trip in itself as it is only accessible by the Sydney Ferries.

So pack your lunches, pack your imaginations and get out there and enjoy all that Sydney’s Arts Community has to offer these school holidays!
